DFW RUNWAY REPORT: BEKKY BEUKES COLLECTION REVIEW
Bekky graduated from D.U.T. IN 2007 AFTER TRAVELLING TO THE UK and South America, where she gained a lof of insight. Bekky owes her inspiration to her brother who serves with the U.S Marine Corps, and her clothing thus serves as a protest against war and the pain and anguish it causes. she has a number of achievements, including being selected the winner of 'Best Range on Show' at her D.U.T. Graduation Show, Vodacom Durban July Regional Finalist 2007 and Invited Designer at the Musgrave Experience 2006. However, foe Bekky hergratest achievement to date is being selected to showcase alongside established and respected designers at MTN Durban Fashion week 2008.

My Review:

What I loved about her collection was that she created a very obvious contrast. She created very feminine, girly, romantic garments and mixed them with the hardness and roughness of various army features such as army hats and military guns. By Bekky doing this she put her inspiration and concept out there for the audience to really understand. I love the colours she used in her collection, silver, white, pale pink and touches of brown. The colours flowed very nicely. As for the materials she used, which I adored. I like how she used a number of different types of fabrics and didn't stick to one to two types. By Bekky using different types of fabrics she brought in different textiles and feels to her collection. There was not only a contrast between her garments and the army features but as well as with her fabrics. In my opinion her collection was very pleasing to the eye and would definitely make orders from her collection. My favourite ready-wear outfit from the Bekkys collection would be the Creamy white layered maxi dress which was paired with a wide brown waist belt.
