The Gibson SG is one of those guitars that immediately looks tough, macho, and metal. The first players that come to mind are always sweaty dudes like Pete Townshend, Angus Young, Jimmy Page, Frank Zappa, et al. The solid-body guitar (that's where the SG comes from) was introduced in 1961, but has rarely been the guitar of choice for women. So, I thought it bared mentioning here, two lasses that rock the SG just as hard as the rest of 'em: Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Danielle Haim.
Tharpe is said to have been an early influence on Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis, and she was one of the first Gospel cross-over stars. That white Gibson SG looks so rad against her otherwise matronly get-up. Next is Danielle Haim seen here covering Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well with a cherry SG. And if I'm being completely honest, I've watched Haim's latest video If I Could Change Your Mind a gagillion times since it was released a few weeks ago, which also features Danielle's signature axe.
