Ghada Amer's paintings intrigue me.  Amer mixes paint and stitching to create her soft porn, explicity sexual creations.  In Color Misbehavior at Cheim & Read, Amer's works (and her subjects' vags) are vividly exposed.  Amer's signature paint drawings are sometimes obscured by her instantly recognizable multicolor embroidery, which plays peek-a-boo with the girls' naughty bits.  On passing the works are seemingly innocuous but as one studies them, nipples vaginas and stray fingers appear affirming the "girls just wanna have fun" credo.  Amer embraces sexuality leaving nothing to shame.  Diamanda (2009)E-Nicole (2009)Lisa and Britney (2009)E-Kimberly in red and yellow (2009)Who Killed 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon' (2010)All works by Ghada AmerPhotos via Artnet
