Cuckoo for Chloé
Hannah MacGibbon's wearably chic fall 2009 collection for Chloé has stolen my heart. Its muted earth tones combine perfectly with her selection of washed out navy and cadet green. Coffees and creams offer women the ideal transition to slide into September. The slouchy legs and fluffy sleeves are reined in by sensible belts that define the waist. Chloé's pants, however, are not for the short — long and lean is a must! The oversize chicness of the fabrics is balanced by the teensy disco bags. Menswear looks are tempered by feminine ruffles, ribbons and jeweled bows. And what more could girls ask for than dikey/femme shorts and jumpsuits in the fall!? I heart MacGibbon for putting these on the runway. I hope to see some uber-chic NYer sporting these this November. Her use of fluid fabrics like satin and silk infuse the clothes with such moveable ease. A sprinkling of skirts and dresses sexes up the fall offering just enough. MacGibbon hits most of the major fall trends (including boyfriend dressing, the bare shoulder and eighties style) without falling victim to them.
Looks I wish I could wear:2 — washed navy silk blouse with gold buttons and cadet cinched-waist ankle pants for the walk to work.4 — striped wool blanket coat with coffee blouse and leather shorts for that first crisp fall day8 — sand suede jumpsuit with tassel tie belt for Sunday brunch on my day off.23 — cream long sleeve night gown with pierrot collar and crumpled sand bow with a great pair of flats.30 — nude charmeuse one shoulder top with bow tied arm and dark velvet high waisted trousers for one night of my birthday festivities.36 — nude plissé ruffle neck sleeveless gown for New Year's Eve.
