Its time to rev up our wardrobes for the sunny season ahead with some sheek sporty pieces. Designers are definitely taking on the atheletic feel for next season and making it incredibly ready-to-wear for us style lovers. The streamline, boxy shapes that  appeared on the catwalk of some of the designers are so modern and sophisticated, there is definitely a sense of futurism in the designs. Many designers, such as Akris, Victoria Beckham, Rag & Bone and 3.1 Phillip Lim have taken the typical anorak to different levels and styles in their own individual ways.

The Anorak:

Akris — I think its safe to say that with having Albert Kreimler as the creative direction of Akris, there will always be contemporary, modish and chic collections coming our and he has cemented that reputation once again by altering the anorak and making it well fitted with a touch of prettiness. The way I see that Kreimler takes his designs to the modern side is by shaping the streamline zip features to work so smoothly with the pockets of his designs — I love that. 3.1 Phillip Lim — its easy to see from a few of Lim's designs that he has taken on subtle layers and boxy shapes in his anorak/sports like jacket creations. Lim definitely has a lot of structure and more of a sharp edge formation to his pieces by evidently using the triangle and square frame work in his garments but with using soft flowing and inelastic fabrics at the same time which makes a interesting composition to wear. Rag & Bone — This collection was a lot more relaxed and laid back with the sports luxe anorak vibe, taking on the very loose fitting elongated running jacket but still making it a la mode by combining the on trend subdued pastel tones with the over neon tones like ripe orange. Victoria Beckham — I have to be honest, in previous seasons I haven't been attracted to Beckham's designs but she has without a doubt taken the anorak and made it so chi-chi! I really love how she has the taken something so simple as the anorak and added so much volume but still creating sleek streamline shapes and balancing the volume effect with making the under pieces very minimal so that her jacket styles can speak for themselves.
I can see that Beckham was inspired by both futurism in vogue and 50's shapes by looking at how she combined typical oversized, rounded 50's arm sleeves with straight line, fuss free modern mini skirts or dresses and creating seamless edges as well by enfolding in the bottom of her jackets to create sophisticated waves in her fabrics.
