Fashion News: Phoebe Philo Leaves Chloe
Phoebe Philo resigned as designer at Chloe in 2006 in order to spend more time being a mother — the commute to Paris from her home in London, where she lives with her gallery owner husband Max Wigram, was taking its toll.

She left no one in any doubt that her talents would always be in demand; having successful taken over the Chloe job from Stella McCartney in 2001, she had made the brand her own when she was only 27. "I've just been given it without anyone really knowing exactly what I do," she said at the time. Chloe was subsequently designed by Paulo Melim Andersson, who was in turn replaced by Hannah MacGibbon in early 2008. MacGibbon had previously worked with Phoebe Philo, so the hope is that she also has her magic touch.

• Phoebe Philo graduated from Central Saint Martins, where she studied with McCartney, in 1996
• Stella McCartney had taken on Philo as her design assistant at Chloe her after graduation in 1997

Phoebe Philo is credited with bringing a street edge to the Chloe label.
