Gucci's Birthday Treat

PLANS have been in the pipeline for sometime now to celebrate legendary fashion label Gucci's 70th birthday and last night they finally came to a very fashionable head.

Claire Danes and Patricia Arquette were among the glamorous guests in attendance of an exclusive catwalk show which, followed by a private dinner and after party, took place at the grounds of Villa Aurelia.

Also marking the first time the brand has shown its cruise collection in Europe, it was "seaside chic" that took the sartorial stage; think a sexy Seventies spirit, fantasy prints and sky-high platforms in exotic leather patchworks.

But what's a birthday party without a surprise? As a special tribute to Rome, creative director Frida Giannini created five new evening gowns which, shown for the first time, will now go on sale in the Rome boutique.
