INSPIRATIONAL KARL IT'S usually the designer that has the muse but for Karl Lagerfeld, it seems that the fashion tables have turned; he has become the inspiration for his handbag and luggage range, designed and manufactured in collaboration with the Accessory Network Group.
"We wanted to create details that are very identifiable with the designer," says Abe Chehebar, chairman and chief executive officer of ANG.
Sartorially speaking this translates as zips shaped like cravats, handles inspired by sunglasses and woven Ks on leather clutches.
"Karl has seen the collection and loves it. There's so much potential with the Lagerfeld line because Karl himself is endlessly inspiring," adds Chehebar of the collection, which is set to go in store in October, in today's WWD. (May 8 2008, AM)
